Community leader urges Niger Govt. to commence sale of fertilizer

ALHAJI Ibrahim Abubakar, a community leader in Bosso, has appealed to Niger state government to commence sale of fertilizer and modern farming implements to farmers on time and at subsidised rates.

Abubakar told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bosso, Bosso Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

He said his call was based on the fact that early rainfall had set in with attendant bumper harvest, adding the development would boost food production among other advantages in the state.

“We have the capacity and technical knowledge to utilize the abandon land at our disposal to produce assorted food crops for our local and export consumption.”

“All we require from government is provision of modern farming implements at ward levels,’’ he said.

He explained that affordable farming implement would enable unemployed youths to venture into agriculture thereby creating jobs and enhance food security.

Abubakar said he was delighted with the downpour, adding that it would a long way to make the weather comfortable for people.
