GOVERNOR Simon Lalong of Plateau State has said he would expect an improvement in the level of transparency in the distribution and sale of fertilizer for the 2018 farming season.
Lalong stated this at the flag off and sale of fertilizer for this year’s cropping season in Dengi head quarters of Kanam Local Government Area.
According to the governor NPK and Uriah will be sold for N5,500.00 for a bag each and that government has for the first time purchased subsidised organic fertilizer for four thousand five hundred naira a bag.
Lalong said extension staff was employed to carry out soil tests to determine the type and quality of soil needed for specific communities across the state.
There were goodwill messages by Hosea Finangwai, the commissioner for Agriculture; Hubu Bale, chairman of Kanam; Philip Gonap, programme manager PADP; Philip Azi chairman All Farmers Association of Nigeria and Martin Shaldas, the Long Gomai of Shendam.
Nineteen thousand metric tonnes of fertilizer was purchased by the state government for distribution and sale in the 2018 farming season.
