RECOGNISED by Forbes Magazine as one of Africa’s most influential celebrities, Awilo Longomba, is back with a bang, as he celebrates 30 years in African music.

As he celebrates 30 years of extensive music career this year, Longomba has promised to treat fans to new material and release his highly anticipated new album. The ‘Techno Soukous’ King has already surprised and delighted fans with a recent collaboration, featuring Lola Rae, African songstress, on an explosive remix for one of his greatest hits and an African anthem of all time, “Coupe Bibamba”.

Longomba, one of Africa’s most popular and loved musicians, has continually captivated audiences with his genre of music, ‘Techno Soukous’. Known as the pioneer and ‘King’ of this genre, the multi-award winning eclectic star has captivated audiences with popular hits; “Moyen Te”, “Gate Le Coin”, “Abidjan Debout”, “Sequestration”, “Coupe Bibamba” and “Karolina”.

Having been recognised and awarded by the late Nelson Mandela, former South African president, during 2001’s KORA award ceremony for his contribution to African music, Longomba remains an instrumental figure within the African music industry.

Across his widespread career, Awilo has repeatedly sold out stadiums and arenas across Africa, namely, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, DR Congo, South Africa, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, among others. He has also toured and performed in other parts of the globe such as Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Europe and the United States.

Tonto Dikeh, Yul Edochie named sexiest Nollywood stars

TONTO Dikeh and Yul Edochie, Nigerian actress and actor, have been named 2013’s sexiest woman and man in Nollywood. According to a yearly opinion poll carried out Vanguard, one of the leading Nigerian newspapers, the couple have been voted the sexiest Nollywood performers.

Tonto beat Ebube Nwagbo and Colette Orji who came second and third respectively. Following the first three women were Cynthia Agholor, coming fourth and Stephanie Okerekem fifth.

In the men’s category, Yul Edochie overcame challenges from Benson Okonkwo and Uti Nwachukwu who came second and third respectively. Odunlade Adekola and Ali Nuhu completed the picture at fourth and fifth respectively.

Dikeh is popular for her roles in movies ‘My Life, My Damage’, and “Doctor May’, while Yul Edochie has featured in a number of movies, including “Immaculate Heart’ and ‘The Blind”.

Past winners of the contest were Jim Iyke and Genevieve Nnaji in 2008, and Desmond Elliot and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde in 2009.

D’Prince Collaborates with Don Jazzy, Davido

D’PRINCE, a Mavin Records singer, is set to drop a video for his song, ‘Gentleman’, featuring Don Jazzy and Davido, superstars in the music industry. New photos from the soon-to-be-released video have flooded the internet, with Don Jazzy and Davido also seen in the images.

The singers all appeared to be dapper, beaming in exquisitely-tailored suits, all in a bid to pass across the theme of the song.

The new video was shot on Friday, January 10, 2014, as Don Jazzy had earlier announced an opening for video vixens. ‘Gentleman’ music video will be released in the coming days, with the excitement among fans over the top.

Ezuruonye Is Airtel’s Brand Ambassador

MIKE Ezuruonye, ace Nigerian actor, is the new brand ambassador of Aitel Nigeria, a Nigerian telecommunication company. Ezuruonye put pen to paper on the deal on Friday, January 10, 2014.

The excited actor took to microblogging site, Twitter, to express his joy and gratitude over the new deal. “Another done deal. Seriously I owe God too much for his blessings. Thank You Father,” he said and gave out his new special Airtel number on which fans could reach him.

Ezuruonye is the first brand ambassador to be snapped up by Airtel. This follows similar moves by their core competitors, MTN, GLO and Etisalat, who indulged in a brand ambassador signing spree in 2013.
