Obiano inaugurates Board of Directors

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has inaugurated a nine-man committee to manage affairs of Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.

The committee, which has Chukwuma Soludo as chairman, include Ifeatu Onejeme, the commissioner for Finance, Joe Billy Ekwunife, the managing director, Anambra State Investments Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA.

Others members are Ifeyinwa Obegolu, Patrick Chidolue, Chris Ameke, the General Manager Golden Tulip, West Africa, Amaechi Ndili, the CEO Stanel Company, Stanley Uzochukwu and Chike Akinyili.

Inaugurating the Board at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Obiano urged them to direct the affairs of the Hotel, consistent with the joint venture Agreement between Anambra State Government and Golden Tulip Company.

The governor directed them to promptly build the hotel’s capacity occupancy and advance it to world class standard.

Obiano directed them to ensure that the hotel was run in a financially prudent and viable manner, guided by fiduciary responsibilities of hotels as provided in the laws of Federal Republic of Nigeria and Anambra State.

“You are to ensure the prosperity of the hotel and direct its affairs while meeting the appropriate interests of its stakeholders.

“Determine the company’s vision and mission to guide and set the pace for its current operations and future development.’’

While expressing his confidence in the board, Obiano re-echoed that his administration was ready to partner any company or individual to further attract other recreational facilities to project it to global recognition.

“The hotel has about 90 room capacity, with very unique features. It will be a centre of attraction which makes it the best in the South East. It will have golf course and other recreational facilities.

“The hotel was started by my predecessor and was 10 per cent constructed, but today, my administration has done 99 per cent of it,’’ Obiano pointed out.

Amaechi Ndili, the general manager, Golden Tulip West Africa, re-assured that it would be a leading resort in the Eastern part of Nigeria.

Ndili said that recreational facilities in the hotel would attract foreigners, thereby promoting the state and strengthening its financial capacity.

He assured of effective management, saying they would use the facility to train youths of the state to acquire managerial skills, which would distinguish them among their contemporaries.

“The board will work round the clock to achieve every purpose. We will work in line with the vision of Gov. Obiano to make the state first choice investment destination and a hub for Industrialisation and commercial activities.

“By this hotel, the state will be a centre for commercial and recreational activities,’’ Ndili said.

Chidolue noted that Anambra had untapped potential, saying the hotel would accommodate a 9-hole Golf course and other sporting facilities, which would make it outstanding in Eastern Nigeria.

Uzochukwu, commended Obiano for his lofty goals and attractions to the state.

Uzochukwu observed that Obiano administration had transformed the state, by creating business-friendly environment for investors to thrive.

Anambra State Government officially handed over the management of the Agulu Lake Resort to Golden Tulip through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state government and the company on the May 9, 2017.

In the MoU, Golden Tulip would, through its procurement company, acquire and furnish the 90-room hotel to its taste and international standards.

It will operate and manage it on a day -to-day basis, providing management, marketing and reservation services for 10-year period, renewable after a first 5-year term. ##
