Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) Fundamentals

23 – 26 June 2014, Kuala Lumpur

Overview

Floating LNG (FLNG) takes liquefaction technologies into a floating production system which can be located close to offshore gas fields. It is not a new idea and has been under consideration for more than 20 years, but new technology, increasing global demand for energy and sharpened investment appetite have spurred numerous FLNG projects. There are a number of technological, commercial and regulatory challenges which have been the subject of study, design development and testing.

Currently there is a major resurgence in FLNG – the first FLNG vessels are under construction and scheduled to be deployed over the next few years. This course is therefore a timely event for all those interested in this emerging technology and its associated challenges.

Teaching Methodology

The course will underpin the theory which applies to FLNG by using practical examples based on real world experience and interactive discussion throughout the course. These exercises will provide an excellent opportunity for participants to apply the theoretical principles which will assist in the understanding of FLNG projects.

Course Highlights

  • Latest development of the LNG industry and the role of FLNG in the overall LNG supply chain
  • FLNG technologies and processes
  • Design standards, construction challenges, technical innovations and risk management Integrating production, liquefaction, storage, and shipping
  • Commercial impacts on world energy markets and LNG trading patterns
  • Operational issues, managing regulatory and environmental compliance, security concerns
  • Real world projects and their challenges & solutions
  • Future projections, market trends, and regional analysis
