Grace Alele Williams, former vice chancellor, University of Benin, 83, December 16. Born in Warri, Delta State, she studied in Nigeria and the United States of America. She was appointed professor of Mathematics, University of Lagos, in 1976. She was vice-president, World Health Organisation, WHO, committee for early childhood education. Alele Williams was the first Nigerian female university vice chancellor in Nigeria.
