Three prominent Nigerians who contributed immensely to the success of the second anniversary celebration of Realnews magazine last year have been inducted into the Realnews Hall Fame at the third anniversary lecture of the magazine in Lagos, on November 19

REALNEWS Magazine and Publications Limited have inducted three prominent Nigerians into its Hall of Fame. The online magazine honoured the individuals who made outstanding contributions to the second anniversary lecture of the company at its third anniversary lecture held at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, on Thursday, November 19.

Those honoured include, Ngozi Anyaegbunam, chief executive, Media World, Benjamin Ezra Dikki, director general, Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, and Joe I. Ezigbo, a professor of medical parasitology.

The inductees had their citations read at the occasion. First on the list was Anyaegbunam, who reviewed the Volume 1 of the Paragon of Journalism. She graduated in English Language with honours from University of Jos. Thereafter, she proceeded to the University of Calabar where she earned her PhD. She was also a lecturer at the same institution.

Anyaegbunam is now a mother, author, entrepreneur and business person. She is a business development/media consultant for private and governmental organisations especially in the Oil and Gas sector. A former lecturer, columnist, Daily Champion and Champion on Sunday, was pioneer woman editor, Champion newspapers and member, editorial board.

Anyaegbunam was also a columnist at the Sunday Times, Opinion page editor and senior member editorial board of Daily Times. She is a very critical interventionist in political and governance issues in Nigeria. She interfaces very closely in issues of journalists’ welfare among other social and charity issues.

Next was Ezigbo, a professor of medical parasitology and managing director of Falcon Petroleum Limited, a company which provides a range of oil and gas engineering, design and consultancy services.

Ezigbo holds a BSc degree from the University Of Nigeria, a DIC and MSc degree from the prestigious Imperial College of Science And Technology, London, and a PhD from the University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom. He was for many years a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, where he rose to the rank of professor.

In the course of his vast experiences in the field of pollution and environmental impact assessments within particularly, the oil producing regions of Nigeria, he developed an interest in the gas flares, which have been polluting the landscape. His quest to contribute to the reduction of the environmental degradation occasioned by the flares has since become his major passion.

Ezigbo, who has had more than 30 years of cognate business experience, sits on the board of several companies and is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigerian Gas Association; Nigerian Institute Of Management; Nigerian Society for Biotechnology, and the Editorial Board of the Nigeria Energy Digest among others.

The last but not the least was Dikki, who became DG of the BPE in January 2013. He graduated with a BSC degree in accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, in 1980. He holds a Master degree in business administration from the same university. He became a licensed stockbroker in 1993.

Born on December 30, 1958, Dikki hails from Zuru Local Government area of Kebbi State. He joined the BPE as a director on December 1, 2004 and has served in many departments, starting as director of power and communications. He has also served as director, Finance and Management Support; director, Transport and Aviation and director, Communications and Capital Market.

Prior to his appointment as DG of the BPE, Dikki had served on the boards of several companies, including Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Limited: NITEL/MTEL Plc; NICON Insurance Plc; Nigerian Re-Insurance Plc and the defunct NEPA.

He has also served in various high level federal government committees including Presidential Taskforce on NITEL/MTEL Labour Restructuring: Presidential Committee on NIGCOMSAT; VP Committee on Tafawa Balewa Square and Lagos International Trade Fair Complex; VP Committee on New Nigerian Newspapers; NCP Committee on NITEL/MTEL Transaction and the Oil and Gas Industry Committee.

Dikki succeeded Bolanle Onagoruwa, his former boss, who was relieved of her position a month earlier in January 2013.

Ezigbo, who spoke on behalf of fellow inductees, said it was heart-warming to so honoured by such an internationally acceptable medium like Realnews. He promised that they would continue to do their best for humanity and to uplift society.

In his acceptance speech, Dikki thanked the management of Realnews for honouring him, saying he felt humble by the award. “I feel humbled to be found worthy of the honour to be inducted into this prestigious Hall of Fame, and it indeed is such an amazing recognition. I therefore would like to thank the publishers of Realnews Magazine for also finding me worthy to be in the presence of eminent Nigerians as a Special Guest,” Dikki said.
