Victoria Chigbo, mother of Maureen Chigbo, editor and publisher of Realnews magazine, dies at age of 80 years, leaving behind children, grandchildren and several relations to mourn her

VICTORIA Chinelo Okwunna Chigbo, (nee Muoghalu) 80, mother of Maureen Chigbo, publisher/editor of Realnews Magazine, an online publication, is dead. Chigbo, who was also a director at the Realnews Magazine and Publications Limited, died on June 22, 2014, at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, where she was receiving treatment for fracture.

Chigbo, hailed from Abidi village, Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area, Anambra State. She was a retired teacher and a tough disciplinarian who reformed the life of some misguided school children. She was a dedicated life member of the Catholic Church and held several top executive positions in the Catholic Women Organisation, Onitsha archdiocese, and Christ the King Parish, Onitsha. Some of her positions included zonal president, parish vice-president, treasurer and secretary of the umbrella organisation of all women in the Catholic Church in the state.

In recognition of her hard work in the church, she was given a papal certificate as a life member of the Catholic Faith and installed as a patroness of the Catholic Women Organisation, Christ the King Parish, Onitsha. She inspired a lot of people and led a lot of souls to God with her dedication and devotion to religious activities.

Chigbo will be buried in Umuoji, her hometown, on Friday, August 1, 2014, while the Christian Wake-keep will take place at her late husband’s compound in Abidi village, Umuoji, on Thursday, July 31, 2014. Left to mourn her are her children: Celestine, Nwamaka, Maureen, Anthonia Ejenike, Udochukwu and Nwakaego, grandchildren and relations, including the family of Chief Mark Muoghalu of Anogu village, Umuoji and Chigbo’s family of Abidi village, Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government, Anambra State.
