THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been asked to increase the number of data capturing devices, so as to translate into meaningful increase in voter registration exercise.

This was the position of stakeholders after meeting with INEC at Nzam Township Hall, Nzam Anambra West Local Area.

Collins Nwabunwanne, the transition committee chairman Anambra West LGA, commended INEC for a well-organised, peaceful and conclusively free and fair Nov. 18, Governorship poll in the state.

Nwabunwanne urged Nkwachukwu Orji, INEC resident electoral commissioner, REC, to treat Anambra-West as they would treat Brass in Bayelsa State because of the peculiarity of the terrain.

He, then, urged Ndi Anambra West, who had yet to register to come out and register in order to collect their PVC.

Nwabunwanne used the opportunity to call on all government agencies in Anambra-West to resume their various activities in Nzam, or risk litigation.

Chinedu Emeka, the commissioner for Science and Technology, commended INEC for coming to enlighten the people on PVC acquisition.

He urged them to do more in the area of logistics due to the peculiarity of the location of local council.

Igwe Anthony Onyekwelu, the traditional ruler of Ukwalla, and PGs of Inoma, Ukwalla and representative of Olumbanasa PG commended INEC for their commitments so far.

They pleaded for increased number of data capturing devices, considering the agrarian nature of the local council.

They also called for the time-frame to be reviewed from 9am to 6pm as against INEC’s 3:00pm closing time, to enable farmers to participate actively because of transient needs of the farmlands.

Orji promised to make a case for Anambra-West at INEC National Headquarters, Abuja.

He thanked Prince Emeka for his priceless input, which according to him is a demonstration of his depth of knowledge of the region’s peculiarities.

He also thanked the chairman for his resilience as well as unequalled commitment toward his people.
