UCHE Secondus, acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has warned that Nigeria is dangerously sliding and wants the All Progressives Congress, APC, federal government to genuinely engage Nigerians in order to achieve peace and development.

Secondus, who made the remark at the thanksgiving and reception Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital on Sunday, February 7, said that the ruling APC should address series of disturbing challenges in the land and stop abusing Nigeria judiciary because it was not favoured in its recent rulings.

Secondus, who led other members of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party to the ceremony, told the audience including the top PDP leaders, state governors and members of the National Assembly that Nigeria was sliding economically and politically with the APC showing it had no solution in sight.

He noted that when the APC took over power from the PDP seven months ago, the naira was exchanging for N160 to one dollar but noted that currently, the naira had suddenly dipped to N300 for a dollar under the current administration.

The PDP leader charged the APC to face reality and engage the various stakeholders, including business and political leaders to find a way out instead grandstanding.

Secondus also described as dangerous to the polity, the continued abuse of judiciary and the use of military and other security agencies in purely political matters.

The PDP boss said that it had become vivid to all political watchers that the PDP, even in opposition, remained the largest party in Africa as indications had shown clearly.

He insisted that not even the harassment and persecution of its leaders would stop the party from providing a robust and constructive opposition.
