Abinye Blessing Pepple, a member Rivers State House of Assembly, who is touring his constituency to identify with and discover areas of needs of his people, visits the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas

ABINYE Blessing Pepple, a member Rivers State House of Assembly, representing Bonny Constituency, is actively showing interest in activities in his constituency. Recently, Pepple visited the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas domiciled in Bonny Local Government Area. According to the lawmaker, the essence of his visit was to interact with the people at the grassroots, and acquaint himself with the present situation of things in the constituency, with a view to gathering firsthand information on the needs of the people.

He said the series of the familiarisation visits would create the needed template in the continuous effort to attract state presence to Bonny constituency. Pepple who expressed joy over the show of commitment by management of the institution, vowed to continue to dedicate his time and energy to the advancement of the constituency and the constituents.

The lawmaker promised to look into major issues of concern facing the school and also gave assurance that he would strive to ensure that the attention of the state government was attracted to the institution so as to foster the needed support and alleviate some of the concerns mentioned.

While commending the management for their commitment to work, Pepple pledged to support the school in his capacity as representative of the constituency at the Rivers state House of Assembly, offering to help interface between the school and the traditional council on the burning issues of land encroachment. He advised management of the institution to treat as a major concern the issue of quota system, harping on the need to heed to reason when it comes to employment of Bonny indigenes; according to him, employment of Bonny people must be made a priority.

Tamuno Iyagba, rector of the institution, in welcoming Pepple to the school, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for finding it imperative to visit the school. Iyagba admitted that as a growing institution the school was faced with gluts of challenges but gave assurances that all hands were on deck to ensure that everything was put in place to make for a better atmosphere of teaching and learning.

Similarly, Tam Jamabo, director of physical planning in the school, during inspection of facilities with the lawmaker, lamented the absence of land space for development of the school infrastructure. According to Jamabo, acclaimed land owners and indigenes have sustained encroachment on allotted school land, which has consequently deprived the school from putting in place and actualising some of its strategic projects such as the construction of a library, school auditorium among others.
