WILLIE Nwokoye, the reappointed Principal Secretary to Gov. Willie Obiano, says he will work harder in the new administration to help it achieve greater success.

Nwokoye told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Awka that he had no issue with the role he was expected to play in the government.

NAN reports that Nwokoye was sworn in on Monday alongside Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, who was reappointed as the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Primus Odili as Chief of Staff and Mr James Eze as the Chief Press Secretary.

The principal secretary said his reappointment was an attestation that he did well in the last administration and promised to serve in the new term with trust, confidence and integrity.

Nwokoye said there would be a new development direction in the administration, adding that campaign visits to communities had exposed the needs of the people to the government.

“It is not difficult for me to interpret the role the governor wants me to play, it is God’s grace; I hope I interpreted it very well and he is satisfied with my work because I was not found wanting.

“It requires trust, confidence and someone who sees things differently from others; what kept me here for fours was my ability to fulfill the purpose for which the governor appointed me.

“For me, it is a terrain I am very familiar with, four years is enough for anybody to graduate from the university, so I am not a learner; so, as I begin another journey, I will anchor it on trust, confidence and integrity,

“The process of electioneering has exposed the development of the community to Gov. Obiano and I expect him to shift his development focus to the communities,’’ he told NAN.

Also, Eze, the new Chief Press Secretary, called for the cooperation of journalists to enable him succeed in his position.

Eze, who was the Senior Special Assistant to Obiano on Media, said he would relate closely with the media in this dispensation than in the past.

“I ask for your support and cooperation, I am not all knowing, I know I wrong you sometimes but do well to correct me,’’ he said.

Contributing, Mr Harry Udu, Head of Service in Anambra, described the first set of appointments as most fitting and timely.

Udu lauded the choices of the governor and promised that workers in the state would help to ensure that the policies of the administration were implemented.

“The timing of the appointments is perfect, just about 24 hours he hit the ground running and that is what he promised the people of Anambra.

“These are the key officers he needs to run his government and having appointed them so early, it means he is ready to for the business of governance and more importantly the choices are good.

“Civil servants have no choice that to keep pace with the governor, we shall work to achieve the objectives of this administration,’’ he said. (NAN)
