THE Social Democratic Party, SDP, Osun state chapter reiterated its readiness to unseat the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, respectively, in the forthcoming governorship elections in the Southwest zone, following its critical review on the imprints of the two parties over the years on what it called “their poor administrative style”.

The party also commended the unrelenting efforts of Seyi Makinde, its governorship candidate in Oyo state in the last elections whose primary objective is to empower the needy in the country.

He described Makinde as a “worthy son of Oyo state who believes in lifting up the less privileged to stardom”.

Ademola Ishola, party chairman in Osun state, declared this while showing serious concerns about the future of the Yoruba race, as being “blurred” by the political handlers of its affairs.

A statement issued in Osogbo by Taofik Alabi, director, Media and Publicity of the party, said Ademola is very committed to working assiduously to see the victory of the SDP in the coming elections, not limited to Osun state, but the whole Southwest.

Ademola further noted that the rebirth of the SDP is to liberate the people of Nigeria as a whole from the shackles of misrule of the APC and the PDP.  He added that SDP has become so relevant, unalloyed tool and last hope to which a common man on the street will rely on.

“We will use our political weapons, as a party, to deliver our people from the APC and the PDP bondage in the Southwest because our people deserve a better living than what they now experience. Presently, series of meetings are going on here and there; interstates meetings have been on board by the leadership of our great party, and consultation is a non-stop process for us.

“We can now say that in terms of popularity, we have it in abundance. In terms of goodwill, it’s our watchword. That is why we now witness a rapid turnover in our party today; people are now coming to us from other parties because they see light, hope and true leadership in our party. That is a good omen to us.

“For instance, look at the way our party man in Oyo state, Makinde is doing. Despite the fact that he lost the last elections, he never stops helping those in need of assistance and that cuts across the whole state. He places the widows in the state on monthly salaries. In fact, he just paid them another salary few days ago. He also just bought and distributed 60 micro mini cars to the young and the old in the state so as to help them meet their daily needs. Makinde as a person is a philanthropist per excellence. Therefore, someone who has not been governor is doing these, if he is now eventually elected as governor, what will you expect of such a man, compared with the activities of government in power in Oyo state, what has the governor done that can be pointed at as an empowerment programme?  Segun Akinwusi of Osun state here is another factor in our party. He is doing wonders too. That’s how we have them across the Southwest. We have hope in them all because they are men of integrity and good reputation. And with them, we are very sure that our party will emerge victorious in coming elections in the whole southwest States,” he said.

Commenting on the masses’ suffering, Ademola lamented that his party, SDP will not relent in its struggle to bring out the suffering masses out of their agony.

According to Ademola, “How can these poor masses, who are tax payers in this country, sit back in lack of hopes, and keep enjoying the ebb and flow of a political whiplash? Obviously, our people don’t deserve such treatments and this is what we always stand against as a party. Come 2018/19, we are going to capture the whole Southwest by God’s grace.”
