NO fewer than 10 persons have been reported to have sustained various degrees of injuries while protesting against the imposition of leaders on them by the outgoing executive.

Not less than 2,000 traders of Emordi Shoe Dealers, Ochanja Central Market, Onitsha had taken to major roads and lines in the market to protest against the outgoing executive led by Nwabueze Umeh.

In a three-page petition to  Amaka Ilobi, commissioner of Trade and Commerce,  the traders listed their grievances to include the appointment of patrons and advisers, who unconstitutionally extended the tenure of the outgoing executive by a year.

Reacting to the allegations, Umeh denied such plan and explained that the projected candidate, Leonard Umeh, whose disqualification caused the protest, was disqualified for non-settlement of electricity bill.

The election for the new executive was earlier scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 27, before this new development.
