12 killed in bandits, vigilantes clash in Plateau

NO fewer than 12 persons were killed in a clash between bandits and vigilantes, in the Zak community of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Zak is about 40 kilometers from Wase town, the headquarters of Wase LGA.
Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase who confirmed the latest development, told Daily Trust that the incident occurred around 9am on Sunday and left nine bandits and three vigilantes dead.
Major Ishaku Takwa, the spokesperson for Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi security taskforce maintaining peace in the state, also confirmed the incident but could not ascertain the casualty figure.
He said the troops repelled the attack and moved to the Gajin Bashar community to fight bandits who also stormed the area.
Daily Trust had reported how bandits gave quit notices to residents of Sabon Zama, Gindin Dutse, Anguwan Tsohon Soldier, Anguwan Yuhana and Anguwan Mangu villages of Wase to vacate their areas or face a war.
This made the residents of the affected areas to flee to Wase town for fear of attack.
