17 killed, 18 injured in Maiduguri Suicide Bombing

THE Borno State Emergency Management Agency on Monday, October 23, confirmed that 17 people were killed and 18 others wounded in multiple blast on Sunday night, official said.

Ahmad Satomi, executive Chairman of SEMA, who disclosed this to newsmen in Maiduguri on Monday, advised residents to scale up vigilance.

“We lost 17 people including 3 bombers while others sustained various degree of injuries in last night multiple suicide attacks on Maiduguri.

“I urge our people to be more vigilance and make sure they know who lives around them, it is sad but we have to more proactive,” Satomi said.

But the Police in the state said 16 persons were killed in the attacks. Victor Isuku, the Police Public Relations Officer, in a press statement on behalf of Damian Chukwu, the Police commissioner, said: “On 22/10/2017 at about 2020hrs, a male suicide bomber detonated Improvised Explosive Devices, IEDs, strapped on him at Muna Garage killing himself and 13 persons, with five others injured.

“In another development at Muna Dalti, two female suicide bombers detonated same killing themselves and injured 13 people.

“The injured ones were conveyed to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, for treatment and corpses evacuated.

“EOD/other Police teams deployed to sanitize scene and environs.

“In all, 16 persons killed while eighteen injured in the three explosions,” the statement said.
