2 guards docked for alleged conspiracy, negligence of duty

TWO security guards were on Wednesday docked in a Karu Grade I Area Court, sitting in Abuja for alleged conspiracy and negligence of duty.

The police charged Wilfred Igyo, 32 and Anthony Abrugbe, 41 with criminal conspiracy and negligence of duty.

They pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Olarewaju Osho told the court that the complainant, Edwin Okoro of Gusape,  Asokoro, Abuja reported the matter at the Asokoro Police station on Aug.31.

He alleged that the defendants who were posted as security guards to his house allowed thieves to enter his house and stole five television sets and one desktop computer, all  worth N8.9million.

The police said during investigation, the defendants could not give satisfactory accounts where they were when the crime was committed.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 196 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Mr Ishaq Hassan, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N8.9m each with two sureties in like sum.

Hassan adjourned the case until Nov. 10 for hearing.(NAN)
