A pressure group under the auspices of Indigenous People of Nigeria, IPN, has called on former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to declare and endorse a southerner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

According to the group, represented by Nnamdi Iroegbu, convener of the group, Jonathan’s refusal of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential form is a good idea, however, it is more gratifying to endorse a southern presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.

“Our recommendation for Dr. Goodluck Jonathan is that it is not enough to refute the alleged purchase of APC form to contest for president, but to take a step further to declare his support for a South-Easterner to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari because the Igbos gave him loyalty.

“We call on Jonathan to support the South East as a man of peace and father of modern democracy. History will be fair to Jonathan if he does the right thing. He must speak up and declare his support for the South East in every fora.

“Jonathan owes the South East a debt of gratitude and this is the time to reciprocate the loyalty accorded to him by the Igbos who has been severely marginalized by this administration,” the group said.

Recall that it was reported that the Almajeri and the Miyetti Allah group came together and bought the APC presidential nomination form, which they have come out to debunk.

Meanwhile, former President Jonathan has publicly rejected the form, stating that “I didn’t authorize group to obtain APC form.”
