392 indigent patients benefit from NGO in 2022

 MR Paschal Achunine, Executive Director, Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), says no fewer than 1,000 Nigerians including 392 indigent patients benefited from the organisation in 2022.

Achunine who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday said that the beneficiaries included women and children who needed support in the aftermath of a healthcare emergency.

“In addition, we were able to provide post-crash care to 94 victims of road traffic accidents within 24 hours by providing immediate care.

“Several companies and organisations in Lagos conducted First Responders trainings for over 2,500 people.

“In total, 330 first responders were trained to address post-crash injuries, and trainees came from a variety of industries, including transportation, logistics, and hauling,” he said.

The Executive Director also said that HEI had a major partnership with Pillar Aid Initiative Foundation that had been instrumental in providing support for first responders.

He said that such first responders include teachers and students who responded to school emergencies such as fire, flooding and other natural disasters.

According to him, HEI trained over 200 senior secondary school students across 40 schools including 2 federal schools, private and missionary schools in Lagos through sponsorship from corporate partners.

“The  organisation  also partnered several other organisations including Microsoft, The M.Kukoyi Foundation, Multichoice, Seplat Energy Plc and Spectranet.

“Others are Cititrust Holdings Plc, Woodhall Capital Foundation, Cotecna, LFR International USA, and The Rockefeller Foundation among others to improve our programmes for the betterment of healthcare delivery in Lagos State.

“Furthermore, in order for us to continue making positive impact on Lagos State’s healthcare delivery system after our grand opening celebration last year, we partnered with Seplat Energy Plc who has committed to supporting.

“Lastly, we won an award from ACTs Foundation with additional support in technology. Professional volunteer sessions to improve organisational impact, scholarship trainings in Lagos Business School.

“In addition, Tadamon Accelerator Programme, in partnership with the UNDP and ISDB, provided 14 weeks of training and capacity building in impact evaluation, project management, behavioural insight, digital design, and go-to-market strategy’’.(NAN)
