At least six militants were killed on Thursday in fire exchange with the Police forces in a desert area in the southwest of capital Cairo, the country’s Interior Ministry said in a statement.
“The Police was tipped some information about the hideout of some terrorists in the desert of Wahat al-Baharia region,’’ the statement said.
The police raided their base and killed six militants.
The forces found four automatic guns, two pistols and many bullets in the militants’ possession, according to the statement.
Egypt has been launching security operation to uproot terrorism following the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi in 2013. (NAN)
