INEC commences 2nd quarter PVC registration in Anambra

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra says second quarter Continuous Registration of Voters in the state has commenced.

Mr Leo Nkedife, the Head, Voter Education and Publicity, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Awka.

According to him, the exercise is holding in the 21 local government areas of the state from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays, excluding public holidays at the designated centres.

Nkedife advised community leaders to visit INEC local government offices to find out when its floating centre would visit their wards for registration and mobilise their people.

He urged eligible persons who had not registered and those who had just clocked 18 years to visit INEC centres to get registered.

He further advised those who had their PVCs and those whose cards were defaced or with incorrect spellings to visit INEC offices nearest to them for corrections.

Nkedife also advised those who had moved residential address after the last registration to use the opportunity to visit INEC registration centres and get their particulars transferred to their new areas.

He advised electorate who had not collected their PVCs to visit the various INEC offices and collect their cards.

The INEC official said that anyone who engaged in double registration was guilty of electoral fraud, adding that registration of voters was free.

According to him, the exercise is expected to end in July and any eligible voter who had complaints or inquiries to call the INEC Help Desk numbers 070 380 959 37 or 081 259 239 61 to obtain the required clarification.
