MAGNUS Ngei Abe, the senator representing Rivers South-East senatorial district at the Senate, has congratulated Nigerians on the 57th Independent Anniversary.

Abe, who spoke at a reception organised in his honour by the people of Akpajo community in Eleme Local Government Area of the State, said despite the numerous challenges facing Nigerians, the country under President Muhammadu Buhari is working assiduously to reposition the nation as an economically viable nation, insisting that there is hope for Nigeria and a lot to thank God for.

He said: “Where we are today is not where we should be. Rivers people are proud people and that is why we should play politics without acrimony, not to destroy one another. I plead with you not quarrel with anybody because of Senator Abe, let’s all live in peace with one another.

“I urge all Nigerians to continue to leave in peace and shun bitterness, hatred and divisive tendencies because Nigeria is still making progress and will continue to make progress.

“We can build a Rivers State where everyone can pursue their dream without creating bad blood. We can build a Rivers State where everyone can struggle to make it without planning evil against one another, a land of peace not a place where Mr. A cannot talk to Mr. B and B cannot talk to A. There is hope that Nigeria is making progress and will continue to make progress.”

Abe, who is chairman of the Senate committee on FERMA, donated a transformer as part of his constituency project to the people of Aleto in Ward 10, Eleme LGA, stating that his desire was to better the lives of the people of his constituency.

Some of the dignitaries at the event included; Chidi Wihioka, a member representing Ikwerre/Emohua  Federal Constituency; Maurice Pronen, a member representing Khana/Gokana Federal constituency; Friday Nke-ee, a member representing Khana constituency 11; Matthew Dike, a member representing Tai constituency; Tony Okocha; Allwell Onyesoh;  Worgu Boms, a lawyer; Augustine Wokocha and Dominic Nwator among others.
