Politics
HON. Alex Ikwechegh, representing Aba North and Aba South in the House of Representatives, has promised a full response to allegations circulating on social media that he assaulted a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseye, who delivered a package to him.
Ikwechegh, speaking to Vanguard Monday night, acknowledged that he has received numerous calls from across Nigeria regarding a viral video where Abuwatseye claims the lawmaker threatened and assaulted him. Ikwechegh stated that he will issue a comprehensive response on Tuesday to address the incident.
The controversy arose after a video surfaced showing Ikwechegh allegedly slapping and verbally insulting the driver in his Maitama residence, Abuja.
In the footage, the lawmaker is heard chastising the driver, insisting it was disrespectful for him to be asked to come outside to collect a delivery of snails.
