The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), on Friday, condoled with the Benue government, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), and the family of Prof. Yima Sen over the passing away of the scholar in Abuja on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the late professor was, until his death, the Director-General of the Northern Elders’ Forum.

He was also a lecturer in Communication Arts at Baze University in Abuja.

The ACF, in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Yawe, said that the forum was saddened by the demise of Sen.

It said that the late scholar would be remembered as a suave, detribalised, charismatic patriot, with a burning passion for the unity and progress of Nigeria.

“In a career spanning 69 years, Prof. Sen attended Bristow Secondary School in Lupwe, Taraba and later Gboko, Benue state and the University of Lagos, where he studied Mass Communication.

“He also studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, and the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

“The late Prof. Sen worked as communication expert to Dr. Chuba Okadigbo and later, Political Adviser to former President Shehu Shagari.

“He was also a Director of Information in Benue State, under the administration of Gov. Aper Aku, and later worked with the UNDP in Nigeria and Kenya.

“The professor also worked with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as his Special Adviser on Policy Formulation and Monitoring.

“He was active in the formation of Campaign for Democracy, Democratic Alternative, and Women in Nigeria, to protest the annulment of the June 12 (1993) presidential election,” the forum said. (NAN)
