Adora wins African Oscars


ADORA”, a film produced by an American-based Nigerian movie maker, Bridget John has won the Best Film in the Diaspora category at the just concluded Nollywood and African Film Critics, NAFCA, Award in Beverly Hills, California, United States of America. The wave-making featured film, which stars John as the lead actress was adjudged the best film in the diaspora category at a glamorous award ceremony last weekend. NAFCA is also known as the African version of the Oscars. The film will be shown at a film festival this weekend in USA.

Speaking after receiving the award at the well-attended ceremony, an emotional John said: “I didn’t see it coming. I hoped to win, but the rest was in God’s hands. When Adora was pronounced winner for Best Film in the Diaspora, I was ecstatic. It was unbelievable. I felt so honored”.

On what she felt made Adora win the coveted award, she said: “There were some good films in the same category, like Ortega and his Enemies, Go Fish, Gem of the Rain Forest, and Busted Life, but I would say Adora had an edge over them because of it’s uniqueness. It is an independent film with a diverse cast.

“The story and screenplay by Dianne Diaz was an impeccable work of art coupled with the fact that it was interpreted and directed by an amiable, certified Hollywood director, Austeen Eboka and captured by a talented cinematographer, Robert Peters”.

AY Floats a Nightclub


AYO Makun, popularly known as AY, a successful stand-up comedian has opened a luxurious nightclub in the Lekki area of Lagos. The club named MVP Lounge is billed as an exclusive Club house with bar, restaurant, game room, karaoke room, gold and diamond rooms with an all-purpose lounge occupying the penthouse floor.

 Speaking about the club, Makum said:  “Now Lagosians, mover and shakers of entertainment industry including industry captains and tourists have got a place they can hang out to dine, wine and enjoy popular jokes from ace comedians with good music.”

The club will be featuring Friday MVP Club Night, Saturday Nightlife and Sunday Karaoke and Comedy Shows for families and general public. “What we are doing different is the non-smoking club. This is to maintain the health and safety wellbeing of our members; hence we create a special smoking room to meet the need of smoking clubbers,” he said.

P-Square to Work with Usher Raymond


Fresh from an outing with American rapper, TI, Nigerian-born singing sensations, Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, have revealed plans to work with Usher Raymond in one of their songs.

Peter said recently: “We do give our fans what they want. And they are demanding for us to do something with Usher.”

The duo also used the opportunity to apologise to their fans over the recent breakup saga, which some reports claimed to be false. “It has made us to bond stronger and we are sorry for what this has done to our fans,” said Peter.  “We are human and such is bound to happen. We fight and make-up, just like every other person too,” added Paul.

Interestingly, immediately after the dust raised by the widely reported breakup saga settled, they released their latest album, Double Trouble, an 18-track album., which contains 16 songs and two bonus tracks, including Missing You, Shekini, Eje Ajo ft. TI, Bring It On Ft. Dave Scott, Personally, Zombie, Ije Love, Sari Sari, Oga Digide, Ifeoma, MMS, Enemy Solo ft. Awilo, Collabo ft. Don Jazzy, Alingo, Testimony and No be Joke.
