ADAMAWA Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA) has registered 20 pregnant women and 135 infants at the Kopte Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Lamurde Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

Dr Muhammed Sulaiman, the Executive Secretary of the agency confirmed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Yola.

Sulaiman said that the agency registered 890 IDPs, following recent communal crisis in the state.

He said that the communal crisis erupted in Tigno, Dutse, Sabon Gari and Tito in Lamurde LGA. “Out of the 890 IDPs, 135 are infants and 20 pregnant women.

“A total of 237 and 498 IDPs are between the ages of six to 18 years and 19 years and above respectively,’’ Sulaiman said.

He said the agency had presented three trucks of palliatives to two other IDP communities of Bolki and Gon that were also recently attacked by gunmen in Numan LGA.

The items included 200 bags of rice, 200 bags of cornflour, 40 Jerry-cans of cooking oil, 100 bags of cement and 50 bundles of roofing sheets among others.

Responding on behalf of the two communities, the Sole Administrator, Vulpi Development Area, Mr Geoffrey Alhassan, thanked the state government for the assistance.

Also, the Village Heads of Bolki, Chief Kusama Shaba and that of Gon, Mr Benedict Medan, said it was the first time they received such palliatives after the areas witnessed several different attacks by unknown gunmen. (NAN)
