THE African Union Commission, in collaboration with the OECD Development Centre, will release the second edition of their flagship report Africa’s Development Dynamics on the occasion of a joint side event to the 11th Private Sector Forum of the African Union. The launch, open to the press, will be held in Antananarivo, Madagascar on 5 November.

What are the major economic and social trends in Africa? What is Africa’s role in globalisation?  Every year this report focuses on one strategic theme. This second edition looks at “Achieving productive transformation” in Africa. The report proposes three sets of public policies to help firms adapt and make the most of opportunities such as the recently launched African Continental Free Trade Area Africa, AfCFTA. It also includes a chapter for each African region – Central, East, North, Southern and West Africa.

Drawing on the most recent available statistics, Africa’s Development Dynamics aims to help African leaders reach the targets of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 at the continental, regional, and national levels. This volume also feeds into a policy debate between African Union’s nations, citizens, entrepreneurs and researchers. It aims to be part of a renewed international co-operation between countries and regions focused on mutual learning and the preservation of common goods.

This report is the result of a partnership between the African Union Commission and the OECD Development Centre. Each year, they also organise together the International Economic Forum on Africa in Paris, and publish the Revenue Statistics in Africa report.
