Afam Mbanefo, the Anambra State commissioner for Agriculture, has been honoured with “Service Ambassador’s Award’’ by non-governmental organisation, “Centre For Peace And Self Value Re-orientation.”

The award presentation ceremony was performed at the commissioner’s office, Agricultural Development Programme, ADP, Building, Awka.

Presenting the award Oyibo A Abraham, executive director of the organisation, noted that after due diligence and intensive collation of facts, the commissioner stood out as the best among the other contenders to clinch the award.

Abraham said the award was in recognition of his sterling qualities as an administrator and for his uncanny ability to interpret and implement Anambra State’s agriculture blueprint.

He praised the commissioner for eschewing prevalent mindsets that political appointment was an opportunity to enrich oneself with public funds to the detriment of the citizenry they had sworn to serve.

Abraham re-assured Mbanefo of his organisation’s continued support to his office to enable him to succeed in his assignment.

The commissioner, while receiving the award, thanked the organisation for considering him for such an honour, stressing that whenever he received an award he felt like having accomplished so much.

Mbanefo also commended Governor Willie Obiano for being agro-friendly.

According to him, I am able to accomplish what I have in Anambra today because I have a governor that is agro-friendly and who has made agriculture the number one pillar of his administration.

The commissioner also said that his performance could not have been so outstanding if he did not have a team, readily available and relentless in running with the mission and vision of the administration in their respective fields.

In a vote of thanks, Amaechi Okwuosa, a senior special adviser to the governor on Export, thanked the organisation for the honour done to the commissioner.

He added that such reaffirmed the obvious fact that Mbanefo had “left his foot prints on the sands of time in Anambra State.’’
