FCTA inaugurates fish farming in Gawu

THE Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has inaugurated fish farming Abaji Area Council to boost fish farming in the area.

Mr Nzekwe Ifeanyichukwu, Secretary for Agricultural and Rural Development of the Administration, inaugurated the farm at Government Secondary School (GSS) Gawu, Abaji on Momnday.

He said the project was to encourage students into developing interest in practical fish farming and make living out of it later in life.

Ifeanyichukwu, who was represented by the Head of Development, Mrs Ifeoma Okeke, also said that the project was also to boost the economic activities and their development, in the area, through fish farming.

Responding, the Principal of the school, Mr Okpe Samuel, expressed optimism that the project would expose the students to fish farming with a view to making fish farming a lifelong venture, even after leaving the school.

Samuel commended the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello for the encouragement and collaboration, culminating in making the project a success.

He also thanked the Agriculture and Rural Development for stocking the fish pond with 1,000 fingerlings, one fish net and providing 30 bags of fish feeds for the upkeep of the fish.

“I thank FCT Minister for finding our school worthy of benefitting from this project and building a borehole for us.

The Village Head of Gawu, Malam Garba Gawu, the Secretary, Secondary Education, (Adminisration Malam Aminu Gawu, Director of FCT Education Board, Malam Sanusi Shehu were among other dignitaries that witnessed the occasion
