A group under the auspices of Let’S Go To Farm, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) on Thursday called urged Edo Government to revamp farm settlements to boost agriculture in the state.

The group’s National Coordinator, Mr Olusegun Ajayi, made the call at the inauguration of the organisation in Benin.

Ajayi said “government must as a matter of urgency, revamped existing farm settlements in the state: open up rural areas
and camps to encourage farming.

“Farm settlements, if revamped, should be connected to the national grid and be open for farmers in the farm settlements
to encourage them.”

He added that the establishment of farm settlements would boost agriculture and empower youths, noting that it would also
encourage stakeholders and investors to go into commercial farming.

He appealed to the state government to construct silos in the farm settlements to enable farmers to store their produce.

According to him, farm inputs, credit facilities and training should also be provided by government to boost production.

He, however, explained that the objective of the group was to create platform for everyone to get involved in agriculture
without stress.
