THE Twinkle Idea Labs Company Limited, an agro-firm in Kwara, on Tuesday, organised training on modern farming practice for residents of its host community, Dogari village, in Asa Local Government Area of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training was segmented into two sessions to accommodate both the crop and livestock farmers in the area.

The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mr Obasanjo Onireti, said the event was a way of supporting the residents of the village where the farm is located.

Onireti said the training would also help resident farmers to marginally reduce farming cost, thereby, maximising their profits.

He said the training for crop farmers would focus on how to make organic fertilisers from poultry waste and cow dung.

According to him, the training on the hydroponics folder for livestock farmers, is specifically for Fulani herdsmen in the area.

“Hydroponics is a type of horticulture and a subset of hydroculture, which grows plants without soil. It uses mineral nutrient solutions in water solvents,’’ he said.

This, he said, if subscribed to by herdsmen, would help to curb the incessant clashes between them and crop farmers, as there would be no need for open grazing again.

He said that the training would be replicated in the 500 communities where the company has farms across the country.

Mr Amoo Oluwatoyin, the resource person for the training, demonstrated how the farmers could make organic fertilisers and hydroponics.

Speaking on behalf of the trainees, Mallam Issa Ibrahim, said the training would help the villagers to increase their productivity. (NAN)
