The Anambra Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba, on Friday, said the state would partner with any organisation ready to promote business in Anambra.

This pledge is contained in a statement issued by the commissioner in Awka after a courtesy visit to his office by a delegation from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Enugu zone.

The commissioner said that the visit was to brief the state government on the forthcoming lottery awareness summit in Anambra.

The commissioner assured the delegation that the state would partner with the commission to encourage people to patronise the commission.

He said that the state would not only encourage the commission but help to protect its operation in the state.

“We will not only encourage but protect the commission; that is why we have investments and protection agency,” the commissioner said.

Adinuba described Anambra as the fastest growing economy, after Lagos State in Nigeria.

He stressed that the state government was developing a 50-year development plan that would make it compete with the very best in the world.

“Anambra is a peace-loving state; we are very proud of the level of peaceful coexistence in the state which is key to development.

“So we are welcoming you with open arms, you will never regret investing in the state,” he said.

Earlier, the Zonal Coordinator, National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Dame Anagam Ononuju, said the commission was in the state to brief the commissioner on its plan to hold an awareness summit.

According to Ononuju, the Enugu zonal office of the NLRC covers Anambra, Benue and Enugu States.

She said that the proposed Lottery awareness summit in Anambra would hold sometime in July.

“The purpose of the summit is to create awareness on the potential of lottery in economic empowerment and development in the South East region, especially Anambra,’’ Ononuju said.

The coordinator noted that prior to the establishment of the commission; lottery business had been a fraud, having denied the country of many benefits.

“With our efforts, the commission has brought sanity, through regulatory framework for operation, which has been promoting good standards for operation,’’ she added. (NAN)
