Anambra hosts reorientation programme on Covid-19

UNICEF, through the Anambra State Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment and National Orientation Agency carried out a re-orientation of Volunteer Community Mobilisers (VCMs) on COVID-19 prevention.

This is aimed at facilitating the re-orientation of the VCMs at the grassroots effectively.

The training was carried out simultaneously in the three senatorial zones of the state.

The strategic centres are the Knight of St. Mulumba Hotels, Onitsha for Anambra North, the Crispan Hotels, Abagana for Anambra Central senatorial zones, and the Kings Palace Hotels, Nnewi for Anambra South senatorial zone.

The training covered the symptoms and methods of preventing the disease.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 pandemic include dry cough, fever and difficulty in breathing as well as tiredness.

The less common symptoms are aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste or smell as well as the discolouration of fingers or toes.

The preventive measures against Coronavirus pandemic include respiratory hygiene, hand hygiene, physical/social distancing and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

UNICEF Desk Officer, Ministry of Information, Chineze George-Ileka, enjoined the participants, who were mainly leaders of VCMs of all the communities in the state to go back and train their members.

She noted that they were selected for the training to ensure that COVID-19 protocols were maintained.

George-Ileka urged them to go on with their work as appraisal meetings would still be carried out in due time.
