THE Anambra State Judiciary has approved an enlarged Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, to look into litigations between Nkerehi and Umuchukwu.

The disputes centred on what name their town would be known; this had been stalling the inauguration of a High Court built by the community.

This is contained in a statement released by Lawrence Uzoudo, chief registrar of the state judiciary, in Awka.

The statement said that they would have three-points of reference, which include, that the committee, “shall invite all legal practitioners in all the suits which they discover pertains to the debacle.

“That the committee, which will be expected to submit their report 30 days from their inaugural sitting, shall conduct its proceedings within the Aguata Judicial Division.

“And that the sittings shall be open and accessible to members of the public.’’

The statement, then, said that the 14-member would comprise legal practitioners with Clifford Okoye, Chairman of Aguata Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, as its chairman and Uche Aguolu,  research assistant with the state judiciary as secretary.

Other members are Chief Ikenna Egbuna, SAN, Chief Chris Ogom-Adimora, Chief S.U.S. Mbanaso, Prof. Ogugua Ikpeze and Chuka Obele Chuka.

The rest are S.U. Onyia, Chineze Obiano and Helen Obi, Adiobinna Edozie and Deputy Registrar (Special Duties), Chinelo Peters.

This committee is a follow up to an earlier committee set up on July 25 during a meeting with the state Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi with chairman and secretary of Anambra NBA aimed at finding solution to the lingering dispute.
