THE Anambra Government has promised to partner with the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, to promote indigenous creativity as well as the discovery and empowerment of youths, who have inclination for acting.
The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C Don Adinuba made the commitment, when the AGN paid him a courtesy visit at his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
“Anambra State is keenly interested in partnering with you. The governor has an acute interest in the creative industry,’’ Adinuba said.
The commissioner said that Anambra had since opened a Film Academy, currently being run by the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Awka.
He said that the state was planning to build a Film Village, which would be world-class and lauded the role that the government was playing in the film industry
“We are proud of the role of Anambra State in the value chain within the film industry. Anambra State has script writers, actors, producers and marketers,’’ Adinuba said.
The President AGN, Rollas Ejezie, said that their reason for the visit was to seek the State Government’s support in discovering and empowering youths, with aptitude and interest in the entertainment industry.
He said that their empowerment would curb youth restiveness and reduce high rate of unemployment in the state.
