Anambra State issues new conditions to prospective miners

THE Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, has issued a new registration and certification procedure for mining activities in the state.

According to a statement by Paul Nwosu, Commissioner for Information, no miner will be allowed to operate in the state, except the following prcedures ae complied with:

1. Registration and documentation will be done at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.

2. Verification of documents will be done by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company and Ministry of Environment.

3. Screening will be done by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Anambra State Solid Minerals Development Company, Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Justice.

4. Confirmation will be done by the Anambra State Mining Reforms Committee.

5. Approval will be given by the *Governor of Anambra State*

6. Clearance to operate will then be issued by the Anambra State Mining Reforms Committee. 

“Prospective miners are therefore advised to ensure that they comply with the new directives,” the statement added.
