“This workshop therefore sets the tone for the 2018 Batch A orientation course through the formulation of policy, operational guidelines for all players involved in the conduct of the exercise,” he said.

He appreciated the Federal Government for always providing enabling environment for the scheme to thrive and other stakeholders such as security agencies for their support towards smooth operation of orientation courses.

He said the state government would step up efforts to improve the welfare of the members in the state which includes payment of their monthly allowances.

Earlier, the NYSC Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Mrs Victoria Okakwu, said the workshop would formulate policy direction towards enriching the quality of the 2018 Batch A orientation course.

She said it was also to evaluate the previous courses with a view to bringing up lessons learnt for all participants to brainstorm on.

“The choice of Oyo State to host this event was in appreciation of the support the NYSC enjoys from the government and good people of the state,” she said.

The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Ifeoma Anidobi, disclosed that the state government paid the state monthly allowances of the corps members up to date.
