Anti-government protests continue in Kenya
Africa
KENYAN security forces fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse protesters in the nation’s capital Nairobi on Thursday following June 25 day of youth-led rage against President Ruto government’s controversial Finance Bill 2024.
The bill has been withdrawn and the president has reconstituted his cabinet but the protesters are still calling for his resignation saying the new cabinet still contains members of the old team.
At least 60 people have been reported killed during the protests, with human rights groups accusing security forces of brutality and claiming that some protesters were being detained or missing.
