Anyanwu-Akeredolu takes FOWOSO empowerment to Ese-Odo Council area, Ondo State

BETTY Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of the Ondo State governor, has again demonstrated the commitment of the Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s led government to improving the lots of women and youths across the state as she led other members of the Forum for Wives of State Officials, FOWOSO, to Ese Odo Local Government where women and youths of the area were empowered.

Anyanwu-Akeredolu’s first port of call was the Palace of the Brand New Kalasuwe of Apoi land Alayeluwa Oba Sunday Adejimola Amuseghan, Lawe II, where the traditional ruler lauded the support of the wife of the governor for her amiable husband, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, who has been able to transform the landscape of the sunshine state barely one and half years in office, thereby requesting for some needs of the area to include construction of Irele-Sabomi -Igbotu Road, restoration of electricity supply to Apoi towns, renovations of more schools, health centres and the general hospitals, empowerment of youths and traditional rulers in Apoi and Arogbo Ibe and development of agro allied businesses in Apoi and Arogbo Ibe areas.

Responding, Anyanwu-Akeredolu congratulated the new king and promised to deliver his message appropriately and emphasised that focusing more on the well-being of women and youths shall continually be the watchword of FOWOSO as this will bring more development to the Sunshine state.

She therefore urged the monarch and his chiefs not relent at ensuring that the relative peace being enjoyed in the state is permanently sustained.

The governor’s wife on arrival at Igbekebo the headquarters of the Local Government Area also visited the palace of Oba Simeon Bamidele Dabo, the Odogun elect, who appreciated the first lady for choosing Ese -Odo local government Area for the programme which he said would enable the people of the area have a sense of belonging adding that the empowerment materials proposed to be distributed to the women and the youths would go a long way at alleviating the suffering of the people.

Anyanwun-Akeredolu who congratulated the monarch for the new position promised to always place priority on the welfare of women saying that it is when women are happy, the society will be at peace.

The train later moved to Community Comprehensive High School, Igbakebo where women from the eleven wards of Ese -Odo local government area had been patiently waiting for the governor’s wife whom they joyfully welcomed to the venue amidst fun fare.

Addressing the gathering, Anyanwu-Akeredolu charged the women not to handle the issue that concerns their health with levity particularly the one that has to do with their breast, stressing that if Breast cancer is discovered earlier it could be managed and treated.

She advised the beneficiaries of the Empowerment materials to make judicious use of it as it would be of help in at least putting food on their tables before the arrival of their husbands.

Earlier, Edamisan Bekewei Olowu, the wife of the caretaker chairman, Ese-Odo Local Government Area, thanked the wife of the Ondo State governor and member of FOWOSO for counting the council area worthy and therefore promised total support of the project and as well mobilise more women in actualisation of the Vision of Aishat Buhari, the wife of the president.

The wife of the governor later took a tour of the exhibition stands of the entrepreneurship skill acquisition programme organized for some people in the area.

Which includes, beads making, soap making, shoe making and others.

Highlight of the event was the distribution of laptop computers, grounding machines, sewing machines, hair dryers and a wheelchair.

Cultural dancers were on ground and added glamour to event as the occasion afforded people to be examined medically free of charge and trained on how to examine their breast always.

During the event, a non-governmental organization Alabama Development Foundation made a donation of School Uniforms, Sandals and socks to some pupils as it was being distributed by Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

The event attracted traditional rulers from the local government, top government functionaries, iyaloja, wives of those in exalted positions of authority.
