CHIEF Prince Onu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned elements within the party against building disaffection between President Mohammadu Buhari and the national leader of the party, Chief Bola Tinubu.

Onu, a former APC Senatorial candidate, Ebonyi South, in the 2019 general election stated this in a statement in Enugu on Wednesday.

He described Tinubu as an exceptional leader who had a long-lasting relationship with President Buhari starting from his days in the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP).

He said that Tinubu had consistently kept to his principles and was pivotal to the formation of the APC, nurturing the party from opposition to the ruling party which it had become today.

Onu said that Tinubu’s virtue of consistency was the same with that of Buhari which had made the pair strong political allies and partners.

“It is worthy to note that Tinubu remains one of the most respected political leaders in the country who has kept to his principles and built bridges across regions and states of the country.

“This trait of Tinubu is intimidating and that is why the purveyors of this crack between both leaders have emerged in order to build one and cause disaffection within our party.

“The truth of the matter is that the claims are false and handiwork of opposition within the APC.

“To the admiration of the nation, Sen. Tinubu has managed the political leadership of Lagos State very well which has brought about stability in the state.

According to Onu, the former Lagos governor will manage Nigeria well if he emerges as the president.

“He is qualified to run for president, taking into account that in 2015 the same thing happened.

“It was when the likes of Rochas Okorocha, who then was Imo Governor, from Southeast, Musa Kwankwaso from Northwest and also Atiku Abubakar from Northeast contending against President Buhari for the APC ticket.

“I find commendable the visit of the national leader of the APC to the Katsina traditional rulers and his donation to victims of the fire incident in the place.

“This depicts him as a passionate leader,” he added

Onu called on other leaders to emulate Tinubu, urging the President not to be distracted by the antics of enemies of the party. (NAN)
