APEX Specialists Hospital Nigeria in partnership with SEGOFS Energy Group, has commenced the construction of an ultramodern diagnostic centre in Anambra.
Prof. Uchenna Nwosu, Founder of Apex Medical System said this at the foundation laying ceremony of the project in Awka on Saturday.
Nwosu said the project was in partnership with SEGOFS Energy Group, an upstream oil services company who were providing the funding.
He said the diagnostic centre was in furtherance to the hospital’s goal of moving from providing primary and secondary healthcare to advanced tertiary healthcare services.

Nwosu said with the centre, Apex would have both a hospital and a diagnostic centre in one facility, contrary to what was obtainable elsewhere.
“We have been in primary and secondary health care but are now in Awka to commence advanced Tertiary care for Anambra residents and beyond.
“We started Apex Hospital as the first private hospital in Igboukwu back in 1981 and in 2025, there is no town in Anambra that does not have at least one private hospital, that is the impact we have made, money is not the primary consideration,” he said.
On his part, Chief Barth Nwibe, Managing Director of SEGOFS Energy said the investment which is worth the sum of N3 billion was part of the Think Home philosophy of successive governments of Anambra since 1992.
Nwibe said that the project was a wholly private sector initiative towards boosting the economy of Anambra and creating employment for the populace.
According to him, SEGOFS is partnering with the Hospital to invest about N3 billion to set up this diagnostic to enable them to render advanced levels of healthcare in the interest of Anambra people and Nigeria in general.
“This partnership with Apex to invest in healthcare in Anambra is in the spirit of Think Home philosophy, our intention is to provide premium facilities and healthcare services,” he said.
Mr Precious Ike, a representative of GE Healthcare said they were bringing top notch medical equipment as well as provide man power capacity training for the institution.
“It is going to be fitted with a CT scan Machine with an auto positioning kit, Artificial Intelligence based technology with a fully equipped cardiac and neurology suit,” he said.(NAN)
