THE Ministers and Plenipotentiaries in charge of Hydrocarbons, Representatives of Member Countries of the African Petroleum Producers’ Organization, APPO, have expressed their support to the 9th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting.

In a communique issued on Thursday, the ministers noted the major role of OPEC in the stabilization of the international oil market and the exceptional health and socio-economic impacts of this COVID 19 pandemic in Africa and around the entire world and stated that the solution to COVID 19 cannot be national but global.

The ministers declared their support to the various processes being undertaken by various parties at various levels aimed at addressing tackling COVID 19 and the volatility in the global oil market.

“Further, we reiterate our support to OPEC and non OPEC Member Countries as well other global oil producers in their concerted efforts at ensuring long term stability of the global oil market.

“Furthermore we urge the G 20 Countries to offer assistance to Africa as we struggle to wade off this pandemic and price stabilization process in the oil markets and encourage the most equipped laboratories and medical institutions in the world to find effective measures accepted by all (proven and consensual scientific results) to rapidly eradicate the progression of the current COVID-19 pandemic,” the communique said.
