MALAM Salawu Abdulazeez, Chairman, Nigerian Association of Patent Medicine Dealers (NAPMED), Zariagi/Kabba-junction zone in Kogi, has warned members against sales of fake medicines within the zone.

Abdulazeez gave the warning in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja on Monday.

He decried rising cases of use of fake drugs, saying it had become a threat to public health.

He urged members to join hands with him to identify those behind the circulation of fake drugs in the area, saying that anybody caught would be made to face justice.

The chairman also warned his members against using their outlets for the sale of narcotics to youths in the area.

Abdulazeez was worried over the rising cases of drug abuse among youths in the country and called for concerted efforts to stop the menace.

He also called on Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi to involve the association in the state government’s ongoing efforts to check illegal circulation of fake drugs and quackery in the trade.

He urged members to continue to support Bello’s administration, saying that the governor was building a state every indigene would be proud of in future.

Abdulazeez particularly commended the governor for his stance on COVID-19, urging the people to continue to partner and support the administration so that the state could remain COVID-19 free.

He also spoke of plans to erect a new office building for the association, calling for the support of members to ensure the realisation of the project. (NAN)
