GOV. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa will on Thursday take the inaugural flight into the N90 billion Bayelsa International Airport.

The project began in 2012 shortly after Dickson’s assumption of office in his first tenure at an estimated cost of N40 billion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Dickson had on Feb. 8 said that the government was awaiting the nod of civil aviation authourities to certify the airport for inauguration.

According to a statement by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the governor will fly into the airport in a Boeing 737 aircraft operated by Air Peace Airline.

Iworiso-Markson said the aircraft, which will take off from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, will touch down on the 3.5km runway of the airport at about 1 p.m .

He noted that the inaugural flight, which coincides with the seventh anniversary of the Dickson administration is a watershed in the development of the state.

Iworiso-Markson stated that the airport project, which was undertaken solely by the Dickson administration would bring the “world to Bayelsa and take Bayelsa to the world”.

He urged Bayelsa people and all lovers of development to come out and witness the historic occasion, which he said was happening in their life time.
