GOV. Umar Bago’s ongoing agricultural revolution is meant to feed Niger and the entire nation, Political Adviser to the Governor, Nma Kolo, has declared.

Kolo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Wednesday that the revolution was aimed at restoring the lost glory of Niger as the food basket of Nigeria

“It is not a hidden fact that we have been the food basket of Nigeria and the hub of agriculture in the country.

“The farner-Governor’s vision and mission is to make sure that all the people of the state adequately feed themselves and sell the surplus to other parts of the country.

“Even as of now,any house you go to in Niger, you will get rice, yam, cassava or other food items, “Kolo averred.

While commending the Federal Government for recently doling out palliatives to the states, the aide said that Niger was never used to waiting for such handouts.

“We were never used to waiting for palliatives and that will soon be history with the current revolution by our farmer-Governor,”Kolo added.

On the recent Supreme Court’s judgment on local government autonomy, the aide said, “We welcome it. But, we are studying the judgment and thereafter, the state will come out with its position.

“But, it is noteworthy there is a very cordial relationship between the two tiers of government here in Niger and it will be sustained.”

Kolo also extolled the existing cordial inter-party relations in the state, saying, “Other states should emulate our harmony with other political parties and the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC).”

He also corroborated Bago’s stand on the 2024 Hajj, saying, “NAHCON must really improve on its services to the pilgrims.

“The governor is an outspoken personality and I support his anger on the poor conduct of the 2024 Hajj by NAHCON.” (NAN)
