Bauchi lawmaker sponsors medical treatment, education, of 122 constituents

ABDULKADIR Dewu,  Member Representing Kirfi Constituency in the Bauchi House of Assembly, said he had sponsored the medical treatment of no fewer than 65 indigent people suffering different ailments.

Dewu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Bauchi that the beneficiaries, whose cases all required surgery to remedy, were selected from the 12   electoral wards in the area.

He listed the ailments to include Hernia, Apendicyties, eye defects and other medical conditions, adding that the number of beneficiaries would be increased in due course.

He promised to sustain such gesture throughout his tenure as a member of the State Assembly.

Meanwhile, the legislator also said he had secured admission and provided scholarship to 57 indigent students undergoing various academic programmes in higher institutions.

He said that of the number, 48 students were undergoing National Certificate of Education programmes at the Bauchi State College of Education in Kengere, promising to sponsor them for degree programmes after their successful graduation from the school.

Dewu added that eight of the students were present at the College of Legal Studies, Misau, while one of them was sponsored to study a science-based course in India. (NAN)
