Rochas Anayo Okorocha, politician, businessman and philanthropist, 54, September 22. Born in Ogboko, Ideato South local government area of Imo State, he attended St. Joseph’s Primary School, Barkin Ladi, Jos, 1970-1976; Juldaco High School, Jos, 1976-1981 and University of Jos. He is the chairman of Rochas Group of Companies as well as the Rochas Foundation which gave birth to Rochas Foundation College, with campuses in Owerri, Ogboko, Kano, Ibadan and Jos. Okorocha is also the president of the Nigerian Red Cross Society. He has, at various times, been a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, and the Action Alliance, AA. He had served as special adviser to the President on inter-party relations and chairman, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, NAMA. He was elected governor of Imo State in April 2011, under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, before joining the All Progressives Congress, APC in 2013, where he won re-election in 2015 general elections.
