Chukwuemeka Wogu, politician, administrator and minister of labour, 48, January 29. Born in Umuahia, Abia State, he holds a first degree in Law from Abia State University, Masters in Public Administration, MPA, and MSc in Public Policy. He is a two- time commissioner, representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC. He was also the political adviser to Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia State, and before then, he was chairman of Aba South local government area in Abia State. Wogu holds several chieftaincy titles from several communities across the country.

Mustapha Bello, civil engineer and politician, 59, January 31. He was minister of commerce as well as former chairman of the defunct   Democratic Party of Nigeria, DPN. He is now a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Ebenezer Oluwole Babatope, politician, lawyer, 69, January 26. A former editor, Nigerian Tribune, Babatope was also a university administrator, national director of organisation, Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN, and minister of transport in the Abacha administration. He is a member of People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

Mohammed Saleh Abdulwahab, diplomat, 54, February 1. Born in Ilorin, Kwara State, he is an alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, near Jos, and a retired under-secretary in the ministry of foreign affairs between 1983 and 1984. He was at the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he studied  Mass Communication and obtained  a post graduate diploma in Public Administration. He served as ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco in 1999. He was also appointed ambassador to the Republic of Lebanon with concurrent accreditation to the Syrian Arab Republic from 2000-2003.
