THE 2024 NPA Ibadan International Polo Tournament entered Day Two on Tuesday with Ibadan Black the Edit polo team bouncing back to reckoning in the Ade Alakija Memorial Cup competition.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the +1 handicap team bounced back to beat the Ibadan Transco team 5 – 2.5 to return to winning ways after Monday’s whooping loss.

They had lost 4-10 in their opening match on Monday to the Ibadan Durante Meristem team.

In Tuesday’s second match, the Ibadan LCG Daisy team suffered a 3 – 3.5 loss against the Ibadan D and B Imperial polo team in spite of leading 3 – 1.5 well into the match’s third chukka.

They had won their opening match on Monday 7 – 1.5 against Lagos Ikoyi to look good enough to be classified as one of the title favourites in the competition.

NAN reports that competition will continue on Wednesday in the Ade Alakija Memorial Cup at the tournament being organised by the Nigerian Polo Tournament.

The Cup competition, which is for teams with total handicap -2 to +2 each, is featuring seven teams in Stream 1 and Stream 2.

Stream A of the competition has Lagos Ikoyi, Ibadan LCG Daisy and Ibadan D and B Imperial.

Stream B on the other hand has Ibadan Durante Meristem, Port Harcourt Wilten Aviation, Ibadan Transco and Ibadan Black the Edit Polo.

Meanwhile, three teams are participating in the General Rotimi Cup competition which is for teams with handicap +3 to +7, namely Ibadan Magna, Lagos Caverton São Polo and Lagos GDF Global.

The Ibadan Cup competition, for teams with handicap +8 to +12, is expected to round off the tournament on Sunday with Ibadan LGC 1 and the Visiting Team taking each other on.(NAN)
