Elliot Goes Into Politics

DESMOND Elliot, renowned Nollywood actor and producer, has signified his interest in politics. Elliot who is also a graduate from the Lagos State University, LASU, said he would be vying for a seat at the Lagos State House of Representatives in the 2015 elections.

The actor, in a statement, said he was interested in youth development and was ready to bring about the kind of reform that would affect the Nigerian people positively.

“I feel God has helped me this far and I want to give back through politics what will be favourable to the youth. The worst part of our national life is that the level of corruption has not allowed youths to understand what it means to live a meaningful life,” he said.

Big Brother Africa Returns

THE ninth edition of Big Brother Africa, one of the most popular reality shows on television in Africa, is to start in September.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, M-Net’s Africa Regional Director, West Africa, disclosed this in Lagos recently. According to her, the show’s fan base has continued to grow with more than six billion viewers across the world. The viewers are also able to interact with the organisers of the show on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

Mba-Uzoukwu also said auditions for the shows would take place in the 14 participating countries. “As a voter driven show, the success of the Big Brother Africa brand relies heavily on audience engagement and our social media platforms allow for this to happen in real-time. This year, even more people will be able to partake in the thrill of Big Brother via their mobile devices and on different platforms,” she said.

Burna Boy Changes Record Label

BURNA Boy, a self-styled hip hop singer, has parted ways with Aristokrat Records, record label that brought him to limelight.

According to some entertainment industry sources the reggae artiste is no longer with Aristokrat as revealed by his new video, ‘Don Gorgon’ which does not have the imprint of the label.

Adding credence to the notion, Lenq, Aristokrat in-house producer, who produced all the songs on Burna Boy’s debut album, didn’t produce any of the song in his current work. Besides, the record label has also removed Burna Boy’s name on the list of artistes on its social media platform.

Wizkid on UK Tour

AYO Balogun, Nigeria’s pop artiste known as Wizkid, is set to begin a tour of the United Kingdom in September. The tour will feature concerts in Manchester, London and other big cities in the UK.

Wizkid who is undoubtedly one of the most sought after Nigerian artistes is expected to thrill fans with songs from his upcoming album.

According to the organisers of the tour, tickets prices will be from £25 to £30.

Wizkid recently recorded a song with American pop artiste Chris Brown.
